New dyke Jazz City

Tuesday, October 27

On Tuesday, 20th October, the "Waterschap Roer en Overmaas" has festively opened the new dyke on site of Jazz City.

This dyke consists of a wall pile over a length of 300 m and a protective height of +22.40 m NAP. This new dyke is the first part of the total dyke reinforcement along the Maas at Roermond. The raising of the area of Jazz City, the first phase of which is taking place at this moment, will form the connecting part of the dyke reinforcement. With the completion of the total dyke reinforcement, the inhabitants of Roermond will be protected against flood waters at a high discharge of the Maas, which occurs once per 250 years.
