The various subsections of Jazz City are a perfect complement to Roermond's current public facilities. The atmospheric town is known for its widespread spectrum of stores. From the Designer Outlet Center and the major chain stores to the many little shops in the monumental downtown section. Roermond's rich cultural heritage is something special. The cathedral city has many historic (church) buildings that are absolutely worth seeing. Of course, there are also a number of cosy squares with terraces, bars and restaurants in order to enjoy the exuberant province of Limburg. In addition, the Maasplassen, the ponds of the river Meuse, surrounding the city are a paradise for nature lovers and water fans.

In the late 1990s, development of the Roermond Designer Outlet Center was started on the grounds of the Ernst Casimir Barracks and the Stadsweide sports park. Since then, the Center has gone through a tremendous amount of development. Thus, the second phase was completed in 2005. In 2009, the project with the front part of the former barracks was turned over and in 2011 the third phase opened its doors.

Jazz City connects into the Designer Outlet Center and spreads out in the direction of the Meuse and the Maashaven (Meuse ports).
